The U.S. ambassador to South Korea said Friday that Korean corporate investment is strengthening the U.S. economy and supporting American jobs.

Ambassador Michelle Steel made the remarks in a post on X after attending a joint plenary of the U.S.-Korea Business Council and the Federation of Korean Industries.

“Korean investment continues to strengthen the U.S. economy, support American jobs, and deepen commercial ties between our two countries,” Steel wrote.

She said she looked forward to “building on this momentum and creating even more opportunities for investment and shared growth between our two nations.”

The Federation of Korean Industries represents South Korea’s major business groups. The U.S.-Korea Business Council is part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Steel, a former Republican congresswoman from California, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 17 in a 55-39 vote. Her confirmation filled a diplomatic post that had been vacant for more than a year.

At her Senate confirmation hearing, Steel pledged to support South Korea’s investment commitments to the U.S., as outlined in a joint fact sheet agreed to by both countries.
