Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered a speech Thursday at the opening ceremony of the Fifth Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou, highlighting the growth of digital trade as a key driver for the global economy and urging deeper international cooperation, particularly in emerging sectors like artificial intelligence.

The Digital Trade Expo stands as China’s sole national-level, international, and professional exhibition dedicated exclusively to digital trade. This year’s event drew more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and attracted registrations from over 50,000 trade professionals across 163 countries and regions, including more than 12,000 international visitors.

South Korea established a dedicated Korea Pavilion at the expo, co-organized by trade promotion agencies including KOTRA. Dozens of South Korean firms specializing in AI applications, smart robotics, e-commerce, and digital content showcased their latest technologies to cross-border buyers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Li emphasized that the rapid expansion of digital commerce offers new momentum for worldwide economic recovery. He stated that China intends to strengthen digital connectivity, bridge the global digital divide, and expand multilateral exchanges in technology and trade.

Addressing international commercial partners, Li encouraged foreign and South Korean enterprises to capitalize on opportunities generated by China’s expanding digital market and deepen cross-border collaboration in sectors such as AI and digital commerce.
